The Evolution of Shoes..

Just a quickie from me this eve - I simply HAD to share this awesome info graphic from Farfetch which offers a stunning visual timeline of the evolution of the shoe, displaying an iconic shoe for each decade and the fashion and pop culture icons that championed the shoe during its reign. Original fashion illustrations, created exclusively for The Short Shoe History, have been used to illustrate the evolution of the shoe. The timeline goes back as far as the glamorous Roaring Twenties era right through to the architectural and futuristic shoes of the current day.

Cool, right?

WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie*

Summer accessories can be the more difficult style to find. With an abundance of chic and classic black handbags, introducing pastel shades into your handbag collection is no mean feat. But fear no more, as WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie is on hand to help. With both women and mens collections, they have accessories for the important male in your life.

Borrowing from the natural colors and textures of the tropical island of Jamaica, WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie's Spring/Summer Collection is a journey into twin brothers Dexter and Byron Peart's home country. Splashes of sea hues and floral prints are included in a variety of classic and new styles, such as the Logan tote bag, which features a reversible metallic inside. From the Piper backpack to the versatile Bradshaw wallet, this new collection comes in tranquil shades of Rosewater, Seahorse and Dragonfly that add a dreamy and radiant touch to any outfit.

The mens range sees the brand-new product category – footwear – which makes its debut in the Montoro and Lennon styles. As well, The Sangster, is the quintessential beach bag this summer.

On Trend: Pastels & Pearls

Some things never go out of fashion, and precious pearls are one of those things. They are a classic jewellery piece and make beautiful embellishments. They make me think of the movie stars and old Hollywood. I have started to notice more and more pearls popping up everywhere this season as accessories and they go perfectly with pastel colours which are everywhere this season. Read on to find out how I think you should work this trend...

Statement necklaces have been the buzzword of nearly every season, they add an instant wow factor to your outfit! Pearl jewellery doesn’t have to just be the traditional plain necklace. Choose a necklace that has double layers or pendants to make a statement. Many come with different coloured pearls and mixed beads which add extra excitement to what could be a plain necklace.

Now we move onto pastels. Pastels are already light and delicate, therefore adding pearls works so well. I think all of the jewelry above would match these styles perfectly. Not long ago Elle magazine shared their trends for spring/summer 2015, one of these trends being “The Light Romantic”. The light romantic trend is loose fitted pieces, flowing fabrics, pastel colours and ultra feminine.

I love the free-flowing fabric and muted colours in the image above, how wonderful would something like that be with a gorgeous statement pearl necklace?

A kimono top embodies the light-romantic trend and is perfect for sunny days on the beach! I’d choose a lighter pastel colour for my kimono with a similar outfit to the image above, with some classic pearl stud earrings for just a hint of sophistication.

This is another example from the spring/summer 2015 gallery on Elle, and I'd wear this straight off the catwalk! The lovely pastel green colour and floral hints make me feel like hitting the beach. Another trend I’ve noticed popping up everywhere is seeing the Hamsa symbol on jewelry. Has anyone else noticed that? I like the idea behind it, as the Hamsa is a protective symbol in all faiths, bringing it's owner happiness, luck, health, and good fortune. A simple pearl bracelet or necklace with a Hamsa charm would look beautiful with an outfit like this.

I do sometimes think people are afraid to include colours such as green in their outfit, but this lovely pastel mint green is just right. This outfit is from the Anna Quan Spring Summer 2014/15 collection. The light colour looks so classy and chic, but could easily be dressed down as well. I think in combination with a simple classic pearl necklace, something like this would instantly turn into a high-fashion outfit.

So what do you think of these trends? I’m just about ready to drape myself in pearls and gorgeous fabrics. If you’re looking for more trends to get into, read Girl with the Golden Touch's post on Thigh High Boots - it’s still just about cool enough to wear this trend, get them quick before it’s too warm!

Memory Lockets*

With Summer around the corner, I am eagerly looking for affordable and stylish ways to update my wardrobe. Whilst I am slowly trying to drag myself away from the 'black addiction' I have seen myself get sucked into regardless of seasons, I have often found that the best way of introducing colour into your outfit is through jewellery and accessorises.

As such, meet Memory Lockets. With the ability to open up all designs as a locket (isn't it just the cutest concept, ever..?!) as well as many offering personalisation options with their available charms, Memory Lockets is the ideal way to change up any outfit with just one piece of jewellery!

I adore the rose gold locket, and the way that the crystal would sparkle in the light, whilst the two pink options are perfect for a hint of Summer colour. Pair with your most stylish wedding outfit, and you'll be the best dressed guest of the season.

On this occasion, I won't even have to apologise to your wallet as their prices start from as little as £10.00!

You can thank me later.

Black One Shoulder Dress - Instaglam by Red Herring at Debenhams*

WARNING: A bit of mood lighting may feature in this post. Okay, it most definitely does.

But mood lighting is 100% necessary to complement the beauty, sophistication and gorgeous-ness that is this dress from the latest Red Herring range at Debenhams. Named, Instaglam, it is definitely that - glamourous.

In a gorgeous black chiffon with boned corset detail, and thick under layer (to maintain your dignity after one too many G&T's), this piece is the perfect little LBD. I love the one shoulder detail - it's a beautiful way to add comfort to an otherwise very tailored piece.

I styled this piece really simply with a blue duster coat from Glamorous. This is an outfit that I will definitely be wearing on our next date night!

The entire range is available to shop here and I urge you to do so quickly. At incredibly reasonable prices, and all oozing sophistication, this is the ideal range to shop for your Summer cocktail dress.

Eyebrow Brush - Caribou*
Foundation Brush - Caribou*
Lip Brush - Caribou*

When it comes to make up, sadly I'm a bit lazy. I'm a 'foundation, brows, mascara and go' kinda girl. Until Caribou walked into my life with their irresistible range of make-up brushes. With super soft bristles that allow make-up to glide on seamlessly, they are the perfect tool for a make-up novice, like myself.

For my foundation I have sworn by Clinique for the last 6 years. When I was a teen, I went through the most awful acne and swore by their Anti-Blemish line. Since, I have never used another skincare brand. Foundation included. I've shifted between a couple from Clinique - first starting with the Anti-Blemish foundation, before progressing to the Perfectly Real foundation, which I still use on the odd occasion if I am seeking a foundation that provides more cover-up. However, at the moment, their Superbalanced foundation is the one for me - delightfully light and not at all cakey, it is the perfect base for Summer.

To compliment the new eyebrow brush that Caribou kindly sent, I use MAC's eye brow pencil in Spiked, as well as a brow cake from GOSH - which, FYI goes on effortlessly with the brush from Caribou.

Finally, for my Summer look, Bobbi Brown's lip colour in Watermelon is the perfect balance between feminine and bold.

And that, ladies and gents, completes my lazy-go-to make up look, with a little helping hand from Caribou.
