Pastel: The SS13 Key Trend.

The catwalks for the SS13 ranges were filled with light pastel colored loveliness. Please note, Pastel is not to be confused with Neon. Oh no, whilst many clothing brands are attempting to relive the 90's with the revival of eye-hurting bright colours, pastels introduce a sophisicated tea-party-esque feel to the fashion scene this season. This trend, if you your like me, gives you a perfect excuse to ditch the dark colours of winter (despite it still feeling very grey outside) and brighten up your wardrobe with girly, feminine tones.

Elie Saab's Ready-to-Wear collection is a simple yet divine example of how sophisticated this trend can be:

In the case of this collection, I'm not sure what compliments the other more - the pastels for the cuts, or the cuts for the pastels. But none the less, aren't they exquisite? I'm particularly captivated by the multi-tonal maxi dress (picture 4). The low cut V accentuates the shape of the wearer, whilst the rest of the dress compliments any figure. The print may be slightly bolder than anything else from the Elie Saab SS13 collection, but a bit of a risk never hurt anyone! It is perfect for a summer wedding, a midnight walk on the beach, cocktails at sunset or just a good ol' English summer BBQ. A versatile, stunning and simple cut dress that will flatter and stun.
Moreover, the fact that the collection incorporates a classic, business-woman style (picture 5) means that even the most serious entrepreneurs and economical workers can still look wonderful in the office. The simple pencil style skirt allows a mature twist to the childish and girly colours.

Lots of love,
Katie x
